Happy New Year Everyone!
It's been a long time since I wrote last so what has changed? Well I'm now in Australia looking after my mum who had to have a total knee replacement. She is making good progress to recovery and the scar she has is gnarly! At the moment I'm just killing time until she is completely better. As soon as she can drive a car again, I'm off back to Bangkok.
There is no muay thai gym where I live, nothing even close. I have a heavy bag and some thai pads, so I've put an ad in the paper and tomorrow somebody is coming for their first lesson.
In regards to my own training, I've dropped right back on the running, doing some work with a slip bag, my own heavy bag and started getting into the weights. I'm doing a program called 'Ripptoes Starting Strength' which is as follows
Squats 3 x 5
Bench Press 3 x 5
Deadlift 3 x 5
Dips 2 x 8
Squats 3 x 5
Overhead Press 3 x 5
Bent Over Rows 3 x 5
Pull ups 2 x 8
Workout 3 times a week, alternating programs.
I'm gaining about 1 kg per week on this program.
I know this blog is supposed to be about training in Thailand, and it will be when I go back there in about 6 weeks (hopefully), but for now I'm going to keep recording my training in Australia here too.
